Website Hosting – Explained

Understanding How Website Hosting Works

Registering a domain name is only the first part of the process when it comes to setting up a website. Along with your domain name, you also need to sign up for web hosting. Below, you can find detailed information on how website hosting works so that you can get a better understanding of why you need to have your site hosted with a good host like Web Hosting Ireland – best Irish Web hosting.

Your website is made up of HTML pages, images, and other types of files. All of these files are usually stored in a series of folders that help to keep them organised.

In order for people to be able to access these files, they need to be stored on a computer that is connected to the Internet. This computer is called a server. Typically, servers are owned by web hosting companies. When you sign up to have your website hosted, you are paying the hosting company to allow you to store your files on their server so that they can be accessed through the Internet.

Before anyone can find those files, however, you need to connect your domain name to the server where the files are being hosted. This is accomplished through the use of name servers. Although that may sound complicated, it is actually relatively straightforward.

Nameservers are a part of the Domain Name System (DNS). The DNS is essentially a large database that is designed to convert domain names into IP addresses. Every domain name is associated with a unique IP address.

When someone types your domain name into a browser, a request is sent to the name server that is associated with your domain. The name server converts the domain name into its associated IP address and looks up where the files for that particular domain are stored. Once the files have been located, the browser then returns the web page in question, allowing the person who typed in the domain to view your website.

That means that there are three basic steps that you have to take to get your website hosting set up:

1. The process starts by registering a domain name.

2. Next, you have to upload your files to a server that is owned by a web hosting company.

3. Finally, you need to specify which name servers your domain name uses by entering them into the domain’s DNS settings.

Hopefully, this gives you a better understanding of how website hosting works. Just be sure to choose a reliable hosting company so that people can access your site whenever they want to.

Welcome to Irish Survivors in Britain

There has always been a tremendous pull for the Irish people toward England.  Mostly for economic reasons, but also in the case of victims of abuse by the institutions in Ireland because they feel disconnected, and are happy to embrace the anonymity of a fresh start in a new place.

It is very important to stay connected to our roots, and for many in places like England that connection is a distant memory, except for the reach out programs in some of the larger cities by organisations like the Irish Centres.

Life is short, and it is important to be kind.  If you have an opportunity to help, we humbly urge you to do so.
